I'm researching my husbands Landry family and can't seem to find much on these two people. Family members think Jean may have been raised by Schexnayders from Kaplan or Abbeville, LA. Jean married Marie Estelle Primeaux in Abbeville, LA. on January 6, 1902 (records from the Vermilion Parish Court House). I know they have at least one son named Joseph Senuah Landry, my husbands grandfather, born May 14, 1912 who married Sadie Suire. Joseph and Sadie have several children, one of which is my husbands father, his name was Antoine Landry, he died in 1988. Any information is appreciated.

They appear on the 1900 census in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, in ED 98 (or ward), sheet 13B. --Crane, Zebulon, head, b. Aug 1849, age 51, marr. 34 yrs --Crane, Sarah J., wife, b. Mar. 1844, age 56, marr. 34 yrs, mother of 7 children, 7 children still living --Crane, George, son, b. Dec. 1881, age 18, b. British Columbia --Crane, Lena, dau, B. May 1884, age 16, b. Iowa The census information was given to me so the actually data to identify where in the census Zebulon Crane was I do not know since I have not see the actual census. I am desended from George Crane, so I don't need to know about him. The other five are Amzah born about 1867 in Iowa, Marcus about May 1870 in Iowa, John about 1872 in United States, Estella born about 1875 in United States, and William born about 1878 in British Columbia. For some reason George's children never stayed in touch with any of his siblings and I don't know what happened to them or his parents. In fact until today didn't know anyone beside him was alive in 1900 and Lena Crane didn't exist. Thought that someone might could give me a clue here on how to find records when I am out of state . Thank you.

Surnames: McMullen, Paxton, Reid, Manhein, Ogden, Garnier, Monnier, Rowe, Hammond Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kEB.2ACI/4.16.20.2 Message Board Post: Hi Terry, My gr-gr-grandmother was Elizabeth Reid (orphan in care of Mr. & Mrs. August Monnier) who was married to James McMullen (son of James Mcmullen & Anne Stephens) about 1862 in Vermilionville, Lafayette, Louisiana. They had two children a son named John (born 1864 but died during childhood?) and Irene Euphemie (also called Mamie)born 1863. I'm guessing that James died around 1864-66 (possibly Civil War?) since Elizabeth married Benjamin Porter Paxton in 1867 and had son Robert Benjamin (also in 1867).In 1870 she had my gr-grandmother Evelena "Lena" Marie Munhein (Manhein) whose father was a peddler/merchant by the name of J.Monhein or Manhein (no marriage record found at present). Soon after Lena was born her parents were separated and Elizabeth went to work on the LaStrape's Plantation between Breaux Bridge and Cecelia, Louisiana. She was able to keep Lena with her but McMullen family members took Mamie to live with them (Mamie eventually settled in Houston, TX with cousins Ma! tthew & Adele Rowe and their daughter Eva Hammond) and Robert Paxton went back and forth between godparents Anatole & Marie Garnier and his mother. He was also spent a year with the farmer Pierre Trahan and his family for a year (until the death of Mr. Trahan). About 1874-78 Elizabeth was married to a man named Youch Ogden or Urich Ogden (no marriage record found). She died of Yellow Fever some time before 1880. Lena was cared for by a family near Lafayette for a short while before being placed in the Mt. Carmel Catholic Orphanage in New Orleans where she remained until 1888 when her brother Robert obtained custody of her and they relocated to Beaumont, Texas where she met and married a young Irishman named Thomas Sullivan O'Dowd (who interestingly was born in New Orleans). I would like to obtain more info on the deaths of Elizabeth's spouse, James McMullen, and their son John. In addition I have often wondered if any of the McMullen descendents would have information on those sketchy years 1870-1880. Have you ever heard anything about this side of your family tree? Sincerely, Judy Trevino
