My husband's daughter is a direct descendant of the Melrose plantation's legacy. My family are Creoles of Colour and I have found my grandfather, Joseph Hebert, my grandmother, Elomire Catalon Hebert and my uncle, Aurelian Hebert listed on the 1900's census in Vermillion parish. I am not sure of much of the information regarding my paternal grandfather, Joseph Hebert b/c my father and siblings did not know him b/c he died when they were young. If anyone knows how I can find information regarding this family's information, please help me. I am novice at this searching.

I am asking for look up of the Scott family. I am searching for burial of Walter Lee Scott born about 1850 and said to have died in Indian Bayou about 1916. Also wife Mary Prudence who was born about 1860 and died unknown. There were three known children: Perry Lambert Scott born 7/23/1885, Lydia Gertrude Scott born 9/30/1887, and Louisa Nevada born 9/23/1889. I have found transciptions in Gueydan Cemetery for the following whom I believe are possibly descendants: Walter Lee Scott 2/18/1909-5/16/1973, Mary B.
