But, unless there is another Vincent Settlement close to Lake Arthur, I think the area you are looking for is south of Sulphur, LA and east of Carlyss, LA close to the Calcasieu River. There was a Pierre VINCENT who owned land in Section 35 of T10S R10W. He owned it with St. Germain ELLENDER (Spelled ELLOUDEN in land records), having acquired it in 1846. I believe he was the one married to Sarah RYAN.

The only descendant I know of is Thomas Winston Bolling, b. Feb. 1893. According to the 1930 census, Thomas was living with his parents in Richmond and was single. Mary Celeste (Winston) Bolling was born Feb. 9, 1867 at Rose Bower Plantation, Vermilion Parish, LA. Parents of Mary Celeste were Thomas Scott Winston and Mary Celeste (Moss) Rose. Mary Moss was first married to David Crawley Rose. I have additional information on the ancestors that I will gladly share if it will help in your search. Please keep me in mind if you have contact with descendants of the Bolling family. Thanks-- Maude Ann

The name Bolling is only vaguely familiar. Maybe the Bollings were living in southwest Louisiana when Hilda hit. They may have moved from Boston to LA and had relatives in Richmond, VA Perhaps a Richmond city directory of 1925 might shed some light. Newspapers of that year....Richmond must have an historical society that may have something about some Bollings that lived in that area. 1910 census of Vermilion Parish may list some Bollings also. I'd checkthe 1930 census also. How did you come to posses these articles? ARe the Bolling family your kin?

I've wondered where they are buried myself. When Pierre Joseph Francois Vincent ( b. 1748) died he was buried in what was called St. Martin Parish. I believe Pierre and Sarah Ryan lived around Lake Charles. The may be buried around there somewhere. I dont think anyone alive today knows the exact location of any of them. There is an area known as Vincent Settlement where there were lots of Vincents living. I think it is near Lake Arthur, LA. Possibly still inside the Vermilion Parish line. I've heard people speak of Shell Beach Cemetery where there are Vincents buried, near Lake Arthur. Good luck!

If your ancestors date back to early 1900's on back in time see if you can find someone who will either do a lookup. It is one resouce if you have not already tried to use, use it. You may be surprised at what you may find.

    3. Thought someone may be interested in the following site: http://www.milarch.org/sacramental/index.html "Sacremental Records If your grandfather was married by a military priest-chaplain during World War I, you may find a copy of his marriage record at the Military Archdiocese. Since its founding in 1917, the Military Archdiocese has been the central repository for the records of all sacraments administered to Catholics in the United States Armed Forces at home and overseas. The Archdiocese currently maintains approximately 2.7 million records. The management of those records is the responsibility of the Sacramental Records Department and its Director, Frank Calandra. The largest department in the Archdiocese, Sacramental Records is also responsible for receiving, indexing, and entering data, and issuing certificates of all sacraments administered by priest-chaplains at military and Veteran Affairs installations in the United States and around the world, on land and on sea. Three full-time and four part-time employees respond to 25 to 30,000 requests each year for copies of sacramental records from military personnel, active or retired, and their families. The staff produces approximately 10,000 sacramental certificates each year in response to these requests. Most requests are for certificates of Baptism, First Communions, Confirmations and Marriages. .........Requests for sacramental certificates may be made by e-mail (preferable), fax, phone, or written request. Request forms for sacramental certificates are available on this Website in the "Forms" section. " Angela Angela duQuesnay-Garcia Victoria, BC, Canada Eula

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: <rooneytoon29@earthlink.net To: <LAORLEAN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, October 01, 2004 8:04 AM Subject: From Opelousas Daily World - Human Genome Project Genetic expert speaks about Acadians for genealogical society William Johnson / Louisiana Gannett News Posted on October 1, 2004 Dr. John P. Doucet, an expert in DNA research, will be the featured speaker for the Oct. 9 meeting of the Imperial St. Landry Genealogical and Historical Society. "He is combining two academic fields - medical science and history," Society President Estelle Perrault said. Doucet will speak on the importance of the ongoing Human Genome project and how people are affected in everyday life by their inherited genes. "He is looking at genes as they affect Louisiana, particularly Acadians," Perrault said. Perrault said Acadian society offers medical researchers a unique laboratory. The Acadians who came to Louisiana can trace their heritage to a small founding community of about 300 people. In order to survive, they tended to marry those who shared their language, religion and devotion to family. "It's a unique way to study genealogy. Until World War II, generally there was not much mixing of the population here," Perrault said. "With all my Acadian ancestors, I can trace them back to the early 1600s in Canada and then back to France." This stability of local families has allowed the study of the repeated instances of certain syndromes, traits or diseases in specific families. "With one particular disease, they can actually trace it back to a single couple. That is amazing," Perrault said. The 10 a. m. meeting, which is open to the public, will be in the Office Medical wing of Doctor's Hospital, I-49 South Service Road. Perrault called Doucet, on faculty of both Nicholls State University and the LSU Medical Center System, a renaissance man. "Dr. Doucet is a scientist, a poet, a playwright and a leading medical researcher," Perrault said. "He has a deep devotion to our state and the study of his Acadian ancestors." For more information, contact Perrault at 942-3332 or e-mail her emperrault@aol.com. Eula
