    1. [LAUNION] Julia Goyne McAdams
    2. Tim, Thank you so much for the information you sent regarding Julia Goyne and the McAdams family. You have provided me with information I have been searching for many years. First, you have corrected me regarding Julia Sophia Goyne's correct name. On the marriage certificate I found at the Union Parish Courthouse her first name is listed as India. I went back to see if I misread the document, but it still looks like India. Second, on the 1880 census, if you will look two houses before Julia Sophia Goyne McAdams and her son Joseph, you will find Rachael A Seals and Julia McAdams. This would be Julia Ann (maiden name Lawler or Garner) McAdams and daughter Rachel who married Levi Seale, Julia Goyne McAdams's mother in law and sister in law. Thirdly, you stated Julia Ann McAdams was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church. I have been trying to find which church they attended. Do you know if this church also had a graveyard? I have been trying to find the burial place of both Julia and James T. McAdams. I obtained the following information from the McAdams Historical Society "James T. was a Baptist minister. R. Ann Symons thinks that he and Julia (Lawler) may be buried in the old cemetery around Spearsville, Union Parish, LA." I have often wondered if James T. was the pastor of a church in Union Parish and possibly buried there. I know from family history they lived near Caanan Baptist Church (where other McAdams family members are buried), but I have not been able to find their graves. You did provide me with a exact year of death (1865) from the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church records for James T. The only other information I had on James T. McAdams' death was obtained from a letter written by his brother R.E.W. McAdams to their sister Rebeckah McAdams Gould dated Sunday Sept. 15, 1867. This letter was published in "The Heirtage of Shelby Co., AL", page 319: "...I presume from the way you wrote you had not heard of the death of Brother James. If I am not miztaken in my recollection he has been dead over three years. All his sons are dead...." This letter was informing Rebecca of the status of the McAdams family after the Civil War. From this letter, I assumed James T., along with all his sons were killed during the civil war. We have never been able to find my great great Grandfather Rufus Henry McAdams' grave either. Another letter I have that was written by James T. McAdams refers to "Brother Post". This is referring to William Bell Post who later became the Father-in-law of James' son Rufus. 1855 -- Letter from James T. McAdams to his sister Rachel McAdams Gould 2/16/1855 Union Parish La Feby 16th AD 1855 Dear Brother & Sister, With pleasure I address you a line hopeing this may find you all in good helth. McAdams NOTE: On the back of this letter was written "David Gold, Shelby County Ala -- Postings(?) of W. B. Post" And lastly, you asked for any other information on Julia Goyne McAdams. As far as I have been able to determine Julia and E. J. McAdams only had the one son, Joseph F. McAdams. The following is all I have in my data file. I hope something here will help someone else.
