Gregory, I have a Merrill Smith in Union Parish. He married Sally Gathright. We have a few of the children, but there are still some missing. They had initials in the 1870 census like J. T. and a D. Smith female. In the 1872 census no children are with Sally. She is living with a Caldonia Wright. This Smith line is very difficult. Good luck Candace
