Hi Greggory and welcome to the list! You're not really a newbie to us, as you made a number of nice contributions to the archives way back before I even started being the Coordinator. I know Smith is a hard name to research - even when you find out it was originally Schmidt, as I did. In the last few months I have been doing a lot of transcribing and proofreading on the censuses, and one name I recall seeing consistently, but not with the commonality you expect in some areas - is Smith. There were even a couple on the 1820 and 1830 censuses of Ouachita Parish. The images and transcriptions on those have been sent in, but haven't appeared on line yet. We have all of Union Parish except the 1930, and we'll have that soon. Several of the transcriptions have been completed, and should start appearing soon.
