Hello! I went to the Union Parish Courthouse earlier this week. I went through some of the old papers they have stored in boxes there. Some of them are not recorded in the books. I am a descendant of James Taylor and Mary Breedlove Taylor through their daughter, Elizabeth Benjamin Taylor who married Samuel Sawyer. I had a death date on James Taylor but not on Mary. I found two papers there that helped me figure out when Mary died. I found a bill from Dr. F. A. Phelps (this was also Elizabeth B. Taylor's first husband). He was billing the estate of James Taylor for medical attention offered during the months of July and August 1859. He was there both night and day from August 9 through August 13, 1859. I also found another bill from a P. B. Reynolds. It included a charge of $25 for making a coffin for James Taylor on October 30, 1858. There was also another charge of $25 for making a coffin for Mary Taylor on August 13, 1859. It looks like Mary Taylor must have been the patient that Dr. Phelps was visting since his visits stopped on August 13 and the coffin was made the same day. I made copies of both of these papers. I will be glad to share them with anyone who is interested. Debbie
