----- Original Message ----- From: Mary Anne Williams To: Karen Mabry Rice Sent: Tuesday, December 28, 2004 12:27 PM Subject: Research site I have forgotten how to post to the LA Union site. Could you please post this for me for others to read: http://www.publicrecordfinder.com/ I received this from a recipe list I subscribe to. It had a genealogy link that I thought might be helpful: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form. This will locate a cemetery in a selected parish and will even show a map of its location. This will bring up a list of known cemeteries. Click on the cemetery name you want to check. Then click on "show feature location." This gives a printable map showing the location of the cemetery in the region surrounding the area in which it is located. This will really help in my search for cemeteries I am working on. I have not forgotten my volunteering to help with the census project. I have not had much time at work to work on it and my computer here at home is so slow that it takes too much time to try to bring an image up. It takes 15-20 minutes just to bring up the Union Parish home page with all the pictures on it. I am hoping that in the next month or so that we will be getting a new computer or trying to get someone to upgrade this one. I also hope that things will slow up after the first of the year at work. Things got hectic with the end of the year closing in on us and they were trying to get as many sales completed as possible. I found Union Gove Cemetery near Lillie yesterday and surveyed it. I also found Shiloh out of Bernice. But it was too large for me to do so late in the day due to its size. On the first few rows I looked at, there are several Mabry's. I didn't know if you knew it or not. If the weather holds out, I am going back down there either tomorrow or Thursday. My husband said we could also go back on New Year's Day while he is off work and he will help me with Fellowship and any others we can get. If you will post the above on the website, I would appreciate it. Also, send me instructions and I will save them so that I can do this myself in the future. Thanks.
