    3. I also forgot, Alabama Landing is closest to the former settlement of Haile, Louisiana and town of Marion, Louisiana. Haile, Louisiana no longer has a post office and therefore is a community but Marion, Louisiana is still a small town further north. I will do a little more research but I think this area was once a thriving thoroughfare for earlier pioneer families that seemed to have become an obsolete area with the coming of the railroads and the taming of the the Mississippi River system after the flood of 1927. 3. I had no idea Alabama Landing was close to Haile! My widowed aunt lives at Haile. Her daughter-in-law, my cousin's wife, had a tee shirt that read, "Where in the hell is Haile, La.?" When I was very small, around 1945, we lived at Spencer, toward Sterlington.
