Hello, I'm researching the JOINERS, SHEPHERDS, LEES, and BLACKS of Butler Co., Ala. and surrounding counties, Conecuh, Monroe, and Wilcox. I believe several members of these families left Butler Co. in the 1840s (and later) and headed west. Some family members of interest to me stopped in Union Parish, La., and some in Union Co. Ark. The Dempsey JOINER below was the brother of my gg-gm Delilah JOINER Lee (wife of Bennett LEE). Delilah's brother, Bennett JOINER, married Eady SHEPHERD, and I have information that Delilah's brother, Dempsey JOINER, married Jane CARR (no license to prove it). They appear to be the family below on the 1850 and 1860 Union Parish censuses. GG-Gm Delilah also had a sister named Elizabeth who married Allen STOKES, so the Stokes family is connected also. Does the name Sylvanus STOKES ring a bell?
