The Confederate pension index has been updated at the Louisiana State Archives site. To reach the archives library, go to http://www.sec.state.la.us/archives/archives/archives-library.htm then click on "Confederate Pension Applications" There you will find a searchable database that gives the name of the applicant, in the case of a widow, the soldier's name, and the parish where application was made. This can be very helpful in identifying which soldier is the one you are looking for. I hope that this will be helpful to you.
