    1. Burial Site for Dr. Jeremiah Burson Adcock

    3. Hi, First, to add my appreciation to all the contributors for LA-Union. I have enjoyed it for the several months after I discovered it. Several of you have been most gracious. Gene Barron sent me some great photos. Brenda Felder and I have been discussing her Gray line and mine, and the fact that my great grandfather, J.B. (Dr. Jeremiah Burson) Adcock, had bought land from her ancestors. None of the family knows where his grave is and I thought someone transcribing Union Parish cemeteries may have a suggestion. He died 9 November 1882 while making house calls on horseback between Bernice and Farmerville and the family lore said that he was buried near where he died. He also owned a drug store in Farmerville. My Aunt Maggie Adcock Austin told me that his wife had a marker put on his grave but no one has been able to find out where it was. After his death his widow, Lurena "Fannie" Abbett Adcock came to Bernice and lived with her son, my grandfather, John Berry Adcock and wife, Loretta Gray Adcock. My mother was nine when my great grandmother, Fannie, died in 1916 and went to her funeral. She is buried at Camp Creek with my grandparents but Dr. Jeremiah's burial site is a mystery. My mother died in 1969, long before I became interested in family history or had the sense to ask her about the family. If you have an idea where he might be buried, or anything about his drug store I really would be grateful. Thanks!
