Sherry Gritzbaugh is seeking information to clarify published material by Ms. Liggin. She stated that an S. A. Garris once owned the land where the City of Bernice now stands. Another source stated that the Lowery family owned the land. Which is correct? Was there ever a cemetery located where Bernice High School now stands? If so, what families were interred there? Does anyone have a photograph of the old Union Gin School? Will be happy to pay for a copy. Would also like to hear from anyone who has memories of growing up and attending Union Gin School.
