Hi! to All, More on my recent trip to Union Parish: When I was at the library at LA Tech in Ruston, I found an article in the Farmerville Gazette dated April 11, 1894 which was evidently copied from the Monroe Telegraph Bulletin. The gist of this article is as follows: "...an establishment of Swdes for a canning factory. The North Louisiana Immigration Association hs secured 200 families to settle in the area. Swedes are small farmers - truck farmers..........diversified farming will follow their advent here. As we have said, a better day for this section is at hand and soon the one-crop farmer will be a thing of the past." Did his ever happen? Do any of you have Swedish ancestors if it did happen?
