Dear Dena, I looked through my copy of "Some Slaveholders & Their Slaves - Union Parish Louisiana 1839-1865". The only thing remotely close to Calbert is the following reference to a "Calvert": Book H, P 270 Received of Martha Jane Cooper, Wife of Hynson Cooper, the sum of $1150, in payment for a negro slave named Jim, 37. 27 Jan 1857 Mary Jane Calvert Mary Jane Cooper Witnesses: John Boatwright, B.F. Ratcliff Recorded 11 March 1857 I know this is a long shot to be of assistance but we can't afford to leave stones unturned in this peculiar business of geneology. The owner is: >CALBERT, W. Union Parish, LA, Pg. 669, No Township listed, 1850 Slave Schedule. >There are so few Calbert's, and 'I am one of them.' I was starting to think we came from 'Out of Space.' If this is the correct person (keeping my fingers crossed), he owned my GG Grandfather, Sam Calbert who moved to Bradley County Arkansas (he is listed there on the 1880 Census and listed as being born in Louisiana. Can anyone help me? Any kind of time you can donate will be greatly appreciated. >Peace and Blessings to You All, >Dena Jordan >Pittsburg, California >San Francisco Bay Area >
