Hi Gang, Hope you're all enjoying your summer vacations - you're sure quiet! Tonight we have 11 new items on the Archives, thanks to Brenda Gray Felder. She sent a Bible Record for the Coleman Tucker family, a history of the Coleman Tucker family (which is on the Parish History subpage), and 8 obits, as follows: Victor Granvil Albritton, 2001 Aubrey A. Barrett, 1990 Arelia "Shorty" Breed, 1998 Kathleen Redden Elliott, 2001 A. T. McLemore, 1990 Hershel E. Pardue, Sr., 1990 Lizzie B. Pennington, 2001 Martin A. Porter, 1990 And - BEST OF ALL - the 1859 Voter Registration List for Union Parish!! There are lots and lots of familiar names on this one - 167 in all. Also, Brenda sent me a xerox of the original list and I transcribed from that - the handwriting was spidery, sometimes cramped, and mostly hard to read, so if anyone sees any names you know are in error - please, please send me corrections!! AND - saving the best for last - well, at least the news you've all been anxiously awaiting - I just received the 1870, 1880, 1900, and 1910 Censuses from Blue Roses Publishing. I will send the CD's to Linda Lewis at USGenWeb tomorrow so the images can be loaded onto the server. I honestly don't know how long the process takes, but I'll let you know as soon as she has it done. Then Judy and Leah, and whoever else is willing to volunteer, and I can begin the process of transcribing and creating the indeces for these four censuses. I know we were hoping for a copy of the 1920 census also, but the microfilm the lady at Blue Roses got turned out to be unscannable - so we may have to settle for a transcription and index only, if Ancestry.com gets readable images. I told her to use the money for the 1840 Census, so at least we will have a complete run from the founding of the Parish to 1910.
