    3. Hey, gang!! We have our first volunteer! Bruce Odom volunteered to transcribe 1840. Anyone else looking to volunteer may notice that 1870 has been assigned to me by the Census Project. I don't know why they did this - I don't remember volunteering, but I think Judy or Leah one said they wanted to do 1870 - and I'd be happy for you to take it. I can do any of them, or if we get volunteers for all 4, I'll volunteer to proofread them. I am going to enclose here the instructions I sent Bruce for volunteering to transcribe: The steps are this: Go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~census/volunteer/tran.htm Once there, click on the hyperlink that says "Sign Up" -- there you select the year "18_0" and enter your name, e-mail address, and operating system. Then select Louisiana and type in Union Parish and hit submit. At that point it should take you somewhere to load the template to use in transcribing so your transcription will fit the uniform standard. Let me know if you have any problems, and thanks!!
