I am Louis Taunton of Louisville (Winston County) MS, but grew up in Union County, Ark. Tillman and Mary (BROWN) TAUNTON came from Coffee County, AL after the Civil War to Union Parish. Their eight children all married in either Union Parish or Union County, Arkansas. My great grandfather was James Eli TAUNTON who married Sarah Ann GILMORE, daughter of Greene and Lucinda (MILLER) GILMORE. All buried in Good Hope Cemetery near Oakland. John Boswell URSERY came from Shelby County, Ala. married Elizabeth FARRAR, daughter of Henry and Piety (BRITTAIN) FARRAR of Perry County, Ala, in Union County, AR, but they lived around Spearsville/Lillie area. My great grandmother, Sardonia Jane URSERY, married George Washington SLATER and they lived around the Lockhart, La area in the northern part of Union Parish. I appreciate what this list has done and learn more everyday about folks from Union Parish - Thanks to the great people that are involved in research.
