The story I heard was that the age to get married was lower in Arkansas. It was illegal in Louisiana for a male of age to transport a minor female across the state line for the purpose of getting married. It was common practice for the guy to drive the girl to Junction City LA let her get out and walk across the state line to Junction City AR.
