Just wanted to let Mary Margaret and Alice know - if you have trouble reading something, there are those of us who can save a specific image into a photo manipulation program - like Adobe Photo Shop - and enlarge a portion of it to see if we can read it any easier than you can. I, for one, volunteer to do that. If anyone else on the list would be willing to do the same, let them know. Bruce, I can do the same for you as soon as I get the 1840 CD. Also, for those of you who want to get involved, but think a whole census might be too big a project, there are a couple of ways we can do this - several people could volunteer to transcribe part of a census, teamwork, yah know? Or there is a census index project. You just index the names of the heads of households by page number and gif file number. This is easy because you do it in a data base program like Excell or Access and then have the data base program alphabetize it for you. Mary Margaret and Alice and Bruce and I and future volunteers are also going to need proofreaders for our completed work before it goes up on the archives. So everyone be thinking about this, and in the meantime be proud of what a wonderful group of volunteers you are.
