    1. Edmonds lineage
    2. Karen, Below is a very brief sketch of information that I have on the Edmonds from VA that you asked about. It appears that the Union Parish Edmonds were from VA, left about 1785 for Wilkes Co., GA before moving on to Alabama and ultimately Union Parish, LA. I have a good bit of Edmonds information in paper form. Wish more of it was electronic. If anyone would like to know what I have, please feel free to ask. I'll check and pass it on. Most of my research has been on Francis Edmonds and his descendants. Once I complete my current project on the Ferguson family, I'd like to spend some time looking at the Virginia end of the Edmonds family. Based on an account of William A. Edmonds appearing in an 1881 Fayette, AL newspaper, John Edmonds was born in Wales about 1716 and came to Jamestown, Virginia in 1732 at the age of 16. John Edmonds was reportedly sent to the colonies as punishment for dogging a pet deer belonging to one of the princesses. He married about 1735. William A. Edmonds was the great-grandson of the subject John Edmonds. He got the family history from his grandfather, William Edmonds, and saw the family Bible belonging to his great-grandfather, John Edmonds. Where is that Bible now??? John Edmonds and his son, Harry, fought in the French and Indian War. Harry, age 17, was killed in 1755 during the war at Duquesne. John Edmonds children were: 1. Harry, b. about 1738, killed at age 17 in 1755 at Duquesne in the French and Indian War. 2. Frank (Francis) b. about 1740, supposedly the one later found in Wilkes Co., GA and the ancestor of most the Union Parish, LA Edmonds descendants. He married a Rachel. Arrived in Wilkes Co., GA about 1785. His son, William Edmonds, was the father of James Edmonds who married Grissela Hay. They had a daughter, Mary Edmonds who married 1. George Tabor and 2. Daniel W. Lee. 3. Sidney Edmonds b. about 1742. 4. William Edmonds b. about 1744. Wife may have been Penelope. 5. John Edmonds b. about 1746 married Winifred Buckner, daughter of Anthony Buckner whose will was filed in Halifax County, VA. Later moved to Wilkes Co., GA in 1785. 6. There was a daughter who married Matthew Cox. I have much more information on the Francis and Rachel Edmonds descendants than that shown above and some on the Alabama Edmonds and the ones living in Claiborne Parish. Roy Austin
