    2. Rick, Carla & Kyra Brigance
    3. Sue, There is only one LINDER listed. Thomas F. LINDER to Mary F. HEARD on 29 Dec 1869 Please note that there are three gaps in the Union Parish marriage records: 1844-1850, 1857-1866, and 1874-1880. I have seen several queries regarding HEARD on the Union Parish mailing list. Someone on the list might could tell you more about Mary F. HEARD. Good luck with your searching. 3. Hi folks. I just loaded a file into the Lagniappe section of the LaGenWeb Archvies pertaining to the Louisiana State Seminary of Learning....which later became LSU. This is informtion on the years 1867-68 and the first cadet mentioned was Ta Da...........McCormick, S.C.; Union; Oct. 13, 1866. I scanned the list and didn't see any more Union pr folks, but there may be more there. The url for this file is ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/la/lagniappe/history/lssl.txt There are plenty of folks from other n. LA prs, so it is worth looking at. Enjoy. Jan Craven

    1. Arelia Breed
    2. Christie Stewart
    3. To all concerned, I called Sherry Gritzbaugh last night and told her of Arelia's passing, Sherry had been talking with her for years. Sherry last talked with Arelia back in April and has been sending her information, none of it has come back so she had no idea the Arelia had passed. Sherry said that Arelia's children are interested in genealogy, so I doubt if her treasures with be trashed. Sherry is not in good health either and has been invaluable to me. For those who do not know her she, Arelia Breed and Betty Salvage researched the Bagwell and allied familes for the genealogy article that was written with Elliot Rabb Whitman in "The Ruston Leader" back in the 70's. Sherry has tons of research on alot of the familes that have been mentioned in the last few days. She doesn't have email so I'm printing off all messages and snail mailing them to her to keep her informed. Gina: I live in Southlake, Tx. right the street. Maybe we can meet for lunch. Thanks Christie [email protected]

    3. Hi folks - First my thanks to Karen for reviving this list - thought it was dead but apparently was just hibernating. I live in Stone Mountain, GA (suburban Atlanta). My Union Parish roots are HEARD-FULLER-CREWS. My G-Grandfather James R. FULLER (son of Levi and Sarah) was the first president of the Bank of Bernice. His wife was Mary Isabella HEARD (daughter of William Christmas HEARD). W. C. HEARD migrated from Perry Co., AL to Noxubee Co., MS then on into Union Parish. The HEARD's were in Wilkes Co., GA prior to Perry Co., AL. My Grandfather, J. (Jake) T. CREWS (husband of J. R.'s daughter Willie Belle FULLER) was the first mayor of Bernice. The CREWS roots were in Claiborne Co., MS. I have a copy of "Cook, Heard & Allied Lines" by Tressie Cook and am happy to do lookups. I also have several works on HEARD's by Harold HEARD and one by Margurite Malone. These books are listed on BooksPlus at http://www.mindspring.com/~wcrews/BoolksPlus.html If you haven't visited this site please check it out - you might find something of interest there - and we're always looking for volunteers. Would love to have something listed for Union Parish. The reunion idea is brilliant! I'll be glad to help in any way I can. I have "cousins" in Union Parish and will be contacting them via "snail mail" about this idea. Happy huntin' ... Bill

    1. Re: reunion suggestions/where we live
    2. Sue Linder-Linsley
    3. Roy: I can put us a family sheet on the web for data entry. That way everyone on the list who knows they are coming (or even if they can't come) can add their information ahead of time. I can set it up so that individuals can directly type their information on the web page entry form, save the form to disk fill it out and send it in, or just send in a text file. The same form can be available at the reunion to get information from those who just show up. We can then post the information on the Union web site or give everyone who attended the opportunity to download and printout their own copy, or produce a book and charge for printing costs. Once we collect the information we can decide what is the best way to let everyone have access to it. Since this is something we probably need to do anyway I will start working on a form and put a draft up for everyone's comments before I actually make it so that it will collect information. To start with I was thinking it should contain: You and Your Spouse, Your Children, Your Parents and Grandparents (all with addresses/cemetery and whether or not they are attending the reunion), then a simple list of the earliest ancestor you know of in Union Parish and whether or not you are working on compiling genealogical information on your family. In addition to basic names and dates there should be comments or text box where narratives can be added. Where do we live: I live in Dallas, TX (University Park, near SMU). I was born and grew-up in El Dorado. My mother lives in Felsenthal and El Dorado when she is not in Houston (she and my stepfather have houses in all three locations and spend a week here and a week there. I spend most of my vacation time in Calion where we have a lake house and do genealogy with my Tubb Nolan double cousin. Felsenthal, El Dorado and Calion are all in Union Co. AR. Sue
