Will see you at the reunion. Those attending the cemetery tour on Sunday should remember to bring an ice chest with drinks or water. The following are my lines that I am researching: Clark, Burgay, Moore, Murphy, Clardy, Keese, Lee, Tabor, Edmonds, Sutton, Hamilton, Heard, McIntosh, Wiltcher, Martin, Hodge, Rea, Austin, Regan, Ballew, Ferguson, Feazel, Shaw.... Does anyone on the list happen to know any for the following individuals? There was a Linder family reunion in 1977. I attended by other than my father, brother, and 2 cousin I can not identify the others attending the event. I have a photograph with 80 people that range in age from a few months to 90+ years. I passed the photograph around and got the following individuals identified. If anyone on the list knows any of these people please contact me. I need to identify who there parents and children are. Even if you only know names and can not identify someone in the picture the name might give me a lead to someone who can help. I will be bring the photo to the reunion. J. B. I am researching the LOVETT and MORGAN lines. In the late 1800's I believe they were in the Union/Ouachita Parish area. Alexander Hayes LOVETT married Lucy Ann BRADY on Jan 2, 1875 in Clark County, Mississippi, and they moved to Louisiana shortly. My other great grandfather was James Allen MORGAN who married Lucy's sister, Charlotte Adeline BRADY, on December 5, 1882 in Newton County, Mississippi. They had four children while living in Mississippi. These four children when grown spent time in Louisiana and Mississippi. Not definitely sure of exact dates. Isaac Ransom MORGAN, Charles H. MORGAN, John Hubert MORGAN and Mary Sally O'Flynn MORGAN SNOWDEN are their children's names. Any info much appreciated. Thanks, Judy
Hello there, Welcome to the beautiful rolling hills of Union Parish on May 29 for the Union Reunion. I live in Union Parish and I plan to attend the reunion. I am also trying to get some of the old-timers to come. Mrs. Fay Futch, a retired teacher for many years (probably taught your grandmother), told me that Shiloh was the largest town in Union Parish until the railroad came through Bernice and Farmerville. Now there is only Shiloh Church and residences. Can't even tell where the town was. I am researching GREEN DAVIS, ODOM, TUCKER, FUTCH, AGERTON, and MATTHEWS families. I will bring my copy of the John Ramsey book, which has a tremendous amount of information on a lot of families. All decendants of William Taylor and Catherine Gray. I hope the reunion is a great success. Mary Davis-Odom e-mail: [email protected]

Maradee...and all. Thanks so much for the glimpse back into the lives of our precious ancestors. It's hard to iamgine, as I go adjust the ac thermostat and turn on the sprinkler to my garden how hard life was for those folks. I can't imagine their strength. Awsome! I've just rec. permission to put online in Calcasieu a diary that spanned about 20 or 25 years that was kept by the first school teacher in Cal. pr. It started in 1836. I am anxious to get to work on that. I'll let you know when it is up. It too is a wonderful glimpse into the past. Their lives were SO different and if we weren't hooked on this wonderful pastime that fills our floors with stacks of papers, we would have no idea of what their lives were really like. Sorry...I didn't mean to get carried away. Not sure if I will make the Reunion but researching the Tucker Family and all related Families. James Andrew Tucker
I will be unable to travel to the reunion, but here are my names: My last brick wall group: ELLIS, Benjamin C. - b. 22 Feb 1810 "in NC" (no idea where); d. 30 Apr 1866, LA; buried in Smyrna Cemetery located about 1/4 mile off the Walnut Lane near Downsville LA, but unknown if that is where he died. his wife: FIELDS, Charity - b. Jan 1812 "in TN" (no idea where); d. 1900 in LA; buried in Smyrna Cemetery located about 1/4 mile off the Walnut Lane near Downsville LA. Her gravestone apparently only reads "Charity Fields Ellis - Age 87". A copy of a lawsuit gotten from Farmerville LA Clerk of Court, dated Aug 1891, states that Charity ". . is very old and infirm, she was seventy nine years old last January", meaning she was born in 1812 and from gravestone saying died at 87, she died in 1900 or 1901 (in the computer program, a death date of 1901 makes her 88 years at death, so I put in 1900. Their children: Joseph Graves ELLIS (my g-grandfather), on whom I have lots of info; Martha A. ELLIS, b. 1835, AL (no other info known); John E. ELLIS, b. 11 Feb 1838, AL; d. 5 Feb 1910 (no other info known); m. Virginia HODGE (28 Oct 1844-12 May 1935); George H. ELLIS, b. 1845, MS - Sergeant with Co. I, 5th LA Cavalry on Confederate side. Paroled on 12 Jun 1865 at Monroe LA, 12 Jun 1865. Unk death date; James C. ELLIS, b. 15 Dec 1852, d. 2 Aug 1868 (buried Smyrna Cem); Phillie H. E. ELLIS, b. 22 Sep 1857, d. 22 Sep 1858, (buried Smyrna Cem) Francesca Sutton [email protected]
I won't be able to make the runion but if anyone is working on the names Brantley, Booth, Poole, Gathright, DeShazo, i would like very much to hear from you. Candace Binder, Gonzales, La.
My mother, Edna Matthews Liggin, lived in Union Parish and did a lot of research into the families of that area. I have been slowly going through her files and notes. As we are descended from Mary Edmunds Tabor Lee she has lots of notes on the Edmunds family. I noticed that this name has appeared in several of the lists of researcher on this list. I have begun going through and typing my mother's notes and thought I would post them in here as I type. Doing it a little at a time. Maradee Liggin Cryer [Diary of Leonaidas P. Spyker] >From the diary of Leonaidas P. Spyker who brought his family from Bossier parish in 1857 to New Hope Plantation in Morehouse in January of that year. The 10th of January found them at Shiloh, with clear cold weather. He had gone ahead from their camp 7 miles west of Shiloh to get his buggy repaired which had again broken. He was nearly frozen when he got to Shiloh where he sought out a cake shop, then went on to Cornie about 3 p.m. and found the boat half full of water, ice and snow. This detained them until nearly sundown. They then camped half a mile east of Cornie, the night clear and pleasant. Two children were sick and had traveled 20 miles that day. On the return trip Jan. 30th, he wrote Friday, cold and cloudy and with a tolerable early start, reached Harpers about 10 a.m., halted a few moments and came to Edmonds where we lunched and reached Shiloh about 4 p.m. We expected to stay but were disappointed and had to drive hard five miles to Edmonds where we stayed all night in the same room with his family about 16 in one room. Thirty one miles that day. (This was again when he was traveling east on his second trip. It seems from the two different mentions of Edmonds both times, both east and west of Shiloh, there must have been two different branches of the family he knew real well, and used these two Edmonds families as stopping places.)
