    3. Hi Jim and Penny! Don't have an answer for you, sorry ... just wanted to take the opportunity to say hi to more Pilgreen cousins :) I'm related by the various marriages by Pilgreen's into the Day family (Josephine Pilgreen, daughter of William and Sarah Pilgreen, m. James Pierce Day Sr, and she was my 2nd great grandmother) I looked in my source book "Our Day Family" by Doyle Day. Mary Eliza Pilgreen did marry Claude "Haddie" Tucker. But I don't show any sibling of Mary's named James/Jim. The only Jim Pilgreen I see is James Pilgreen, born 1842, son of William and Sarah Pilgreen. The other siblings of Mary Eliza Pilgreen (daughter of Richard Washington Pilgreen & Mary Eliza Day) are: Louis Franklin, Sally Winifred, George Washington, Callie Donnie, Anne Victory, Susie Adulcy, Thomas Jefferson, William Marshall and Hattie Jane. Perhaps our Tucker cousins can help :) Hugs, Lori Our Mixed Nuts .. err .. 2. Louis, I believe a copy of the Springhill Baptist Church minute book is on file in the Tech Library's special collections. My gr-gr-gr-grandfather, James Moore, sold the land where the church sits to the Springhill BC. I have a copy of the sale transaction. Roy Austin

    2. js
    3. Found this on another list. Thought it may be of help to someone. js o I inherited family papers when my mother died a few years ago. I received a family Bible which belonged to my great-uncle F. (Floyd) E. HAYES with a letter from his great-grandfather, signed R. A. HAYES, dated 2 September 1881, from Athens __?___ tucked inside. I also have HAYES family pictures with the names Linda, Robert Lee, and Edger Jr. HAYES on some. I would like to share these articles with members of the HAYES family who would appreciate them. F. E. HAYES was born in Louisiana. In the Bible marriage record, F. E. HAYES of Junction City, Arkansas, was married to Mattie Lee TABOR of Shiloh. Louisiana, on 20 October 1895, at Shiloh, Louisiana, by Rev J. W. MELTON, witnesses J. R. FULLER and R. F. BROOKS. In the deaths, Mattie Lee HAYES died 24 June 1897, at the hour of sunrise at the home of her parents in Shiloh, Louisiana, age 22 years 9 months 8 days. F. E. HAYES was married second to Blanche STARR from Griffin, Georgia. He had family in Texas. He corresponded with a niece, Linda HAYES, in the 1950s just before his death. He lived in Oregon, Mexico, and Punta Gorda, Florida, and he and Blanche lived with my family for a year or so before their deaths. Barbara Baswell bbaswell@hotmail.co

    1. RE: 1930 Census
    2. Ben Hines
    3. UNfortunately, for the first year probably, using the 1930 census will be a pain, as only a very small portion of it is Soundexed. (however, LOUSIANA is one of them! :) There where also Many more people than there were in 1920, making it doubly worse. I am sure, however, that Ancestry and everyone else will set out right away on transcribing it, as they are doing with 1870, 1880, etc. But since its so much bigger that'll be a year or more, surely... Unless we have more advanced OCR techniques by then. (one can hope!) This is from the NARA site: Indexes using the soundex indexing system exist for the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky (part), Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia (part). These Kentucky counties are indexed: Bell, Floyd, Harlan, Kenton, Muhlenberg, Perry, and Pike. These West Virginia counties are indexed: Fayette, Harrison, Kanawha, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, and Raleigh. http://www.nara.gov/genealogy/1930cen.html There is going to be some great info on it - like "radio set?" and "year of immigration"! Btw - the Family History Center is a library, so they will be have the films for viewing on April 1 2002. Its gonna be crowded. :) -Ben At 1:35 PM -0500 10/24/00, David Strickland wrote: >first release date is april 1, 2002. libraries and institution orders >filled first. 1930 catalog not yet available. orders not taken before 1 >April 2002 from public. > > >> -----Original Message----- >> From: Harold Dozier [SMTP:hsdozier@att.net] >> Sent: Tuesday, October 24, 2000 1:24 PM >> To: LAUNION-L@rootsweb.com >> Subject: 1930 Census >> >> What is expected date for the 1930 Census to be available to the public? >> Like >> with the FHC library. >> >> Seems to me it was to be kept private for 70 years which should be about >> up? >> >> Best Regards, >> >> Harold Dozier >> Tulsa, OK -- <http://tunnels.tripod.com/> - My Old-As-Hell Home Page <http://freepages.sf.rootsweb.com/~bhines/> - My newish Genealogy Pages
