I was wondering if anyone would be willing to taken pictures of the Denton Tombstones that are in Bethel Cemetery. I really would like to have pictures since my great-great-great grandfather is buried there along with several of his children. I am willing to pay for the pictures and postage. Thanks in advance, Angela Heller Weaver

Dear List Members, Tonight I got four e-mails "bounced" from our list. They are all 4 "msn.com" so I'm going to assume there's a server problem at msn.com until I hear otherwise. Hi, all, Just got back from taking the grandson to his mom - we enjoyed the visit but 2 wks with a 13 yr old is about our limit. When we got home, there was a treasure in the e-mail. In 1999, Morrelle and Elaine Elliott survey the Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Hazel Craig spent the whole two weeks I was gone to CA typing it into computer file, and I just spent 2 hrs formatting it for the web. There are so many names in there you guys are going to recognize - Grafton, Dendy, Elliott, Goss, Ferguson, Fitzgerald, Shackleford, Barrett, Mabry, Cook, Coplen (and Copeland), Heard, Gray, Thaxton, Tucker, Hardison, Byram, Byrom, Kendrick, Bennett, Woods, and MORE! Just go see for yourselves. For my cousins, there's a Fomby and there are Cooks and Copelands (Coplens) I've never heard of before, including headstones for 2 or 3 ladies that are probably still living that we ought to find. Karen PS - Thanks a million to the Elliotts and to Hazel for all their very hard work. Thanks to Mr. Kenneth Boyett for giving us permission to publish it on the web. Is he the pastor of the church, Hazel? Karen Mabry Rice, USGenWeb Archives Coordinator Union Parish, Lousiana http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/la/union.htm

We are still looking for a lead on the parents of James Jasper Flowers, who married Frances Rhoyan Scarborough in 1871 in Union Parish. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
We are looking for information on James Alexander Pace and his wife Margaret Bumpers. They came to Union Parish from Clarke Co Ala around 1861. They are buried at Reppond Cemetery. We are trying to find who her parents were. He was the son of Dempsey Pace and Macy (Marcy, Mary) Yarborough.
We are still looking for any lead on Joesph Livingston and Euphama Puler who married in Union Parish on 12-12- 1850. We are trying to find where they are buried and who their parents were. Their daughter Samantha Livingston married Robert D Pace.
Hi, gang - Tonight we have a new photo of Brooks & Onnie Lee Powell, sons of John Thomas and Nina Shaw Powell, ca. 1918 thanks to Gaylon Powell. Thanks, Gaylon! This sure has been a sleepy list lately! Are we due for another roll call? Who knows, we all might have new cousins who have joined recently! Everyone keep your fingers crossed - I think we are finally getting the 1870 through 1920 censuses here soon. A new cemetery - Mt. Tabor - thanks to Baker Colvin and Gina Sherrard! Karen Mabry Rice, USGenWeb Archives Coordinator Union Parish, Lousiana http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/la/union.htm
First we have 2 new things on the Archives tonight, thanks to Gene Barron. Gene submitted a photo of an unidentified school with lots of unidentified school children in front of it. All Gene knows is that it was taken in Union Parish in the late 1800s. It's the first one on the Unidentified Photos page. Also, Gene was able to identify one of the loggers in the logging photo submitted by Kelly Priestly. The third man from the left is Seab Byram, brother of Charlie Byram! Isn't this exciting? Now, for my own personal good news. Those of you who know me, know that William Pierce Mabry of Union Parish has been my "brick wall" for a lo-o-o-oo-ng time - about 30 yrs. Today I got an e-mail from the family guru, and we're 98% sure we know who his father was and it confirms what I always thought about who his grandfather and brother were! Also ties in with the Thomas S. Cook family neatly. Now we just need to painstakingly pull together the proofs. I'm just sharing it because a) I'm incredibly happy about it, and b) it just goes to show - never give up, because that elusive tidbit of data may be just around the corner!! Hello Karen.... I'm so excited about finding some distant cousins ! I am a great great grand daughter of Louisa Jane Redden (1843-1919), David and Jane Redden of Union Parish, LA. I just received info that connected me for REAL to the family of David Redden. If anyone can enlighten me on documents, pictures and such, I would appreciate it. There is a time period of about 10 years (1860-1870) that is unaccounable on her life. She married Richard Winters abt 1870 and they had 5 children. I descendant from Nocie Ann, who is youngest of the Winters children. After Richard's death, she married a Jasper Dixon in Texas and had two more children. Louisa didnt seem to leave much a trail when she left home, so connecting her to her siblings has been wonderful ! I have been in touch with a descendant of Martha Redden and one of Emaline Redden. This is wonderful..... So glad to have the site to visit and share info....... Nelda Breazeale

Is anyone on this list researching the Martindale family? I am searching for information on Nancy Martindale, b. about 1810, AL(?), b. Banks, AR. I have recently discovered she is my GGGrandmother. I know there are several Martindale descendants in Union Parish. I have knew we were related to the Martindale's, but never knew how until recently. I have very little information on her, but here is what I do have that was written by my grandmother who is now deceased. 1) Nancy was the daughter of James Martindale 2) She had a brother name James, b. about 1815 whose wife was name Mary (no last name). 3) Nancy first married James Morgan in DeSoto Co., MS and had son P. D. Morgan. 4) There is a P. D. Morgan buried in Caanan Cemetery 5) Nancy's second marriage was to James Drury (my GGGrandfather) 6) Nancy and James Drury's children were: John, Nan, and Elizabeth "Betty" 7) Nancy's son John was killed during the civil war. 8) Her daughter Nan married a Mr. Irvin (I have a picture of Nan with three of her children). 9) Her daughter Elizabeth married David Jameson McAdams and settled in Union Parish, LA and had 14 children (I have a picture of them with 10 of their children). Betty and David are buried in Canaan Cemetery in the northern part of Union Parish, LA. I have a lot of information on the McAdams', some on the Post's, but am stuck on the Martindale and Drury lines. I am willing to share any information I do have. Shawn Martin smarcmar@aol.com
