Hi Everyone, I have been researching my family line and have run into "the brick wall". By working backwards (the right way!) I have traced my GGG Grandparents Jean Mares (from France) and Emilia Thompson (from St. John the Baptist Parish, born abt 1821). The New Orleans Archdioceses Archives have searched the St John Baptist, ST Louis Cath, St Mary, St Patrick Church marriage records to no avail. The civil courthouses in St John and St Charles parishes marriage records have been searched to no avail. Therefore, trying to find Emilia Thompson's parents through her marriage certificate looks like a long shot. Now, by working forwards, (the wrong way). There was a Margueritte Emilie Thompson born in St John the Baptist Parish in 1821. (The Archdioceses have supplied a Baptismal certificate, naming Charles Thompson and Amelie Brou her parents!) SO, These are most probably her parents, but I need some proof! So I'm asking anyone on this list if they have any info on Charles Thompson or Amelie Brou. Maybe one of you can help me make this connection. I also have a marriage certificate from the Archives of Charles Thompson (son of Alexandre Thompson and Agnes Webster of Scotland) and Amelie Brou (daughter of Francois Brou and Marie Josephe Bourgeois) in 1820.
