This list is a discussion group concerning genealogical research in the St. John The Baptist Parish, LA, area. We are all here to share information of genealogical value and contact those who are researching the same surnames. If you have some favorite genealogy sites or would like to share the surnames that you are researching, hoping to find someone else with information on your lines, then this is where you need to post. 2.) Please be aware that any message you post to the LASTJOHN-L list will go to every member of this list. If you have a message that you do not want everyone to receive, please email it to the individual's private email address. 3.) Please DO NOT FLAME people on this list. "Flaming" is openly arguing with or humilitating another person. If you disagree with something that is said, SEND THAT PERSON A PERSONAL MESSAGE. As in public, people do not like to be humiliated in front of others. Please show respect to others and keep rude comments to yourself. If a topic is not of interest to you, REMEMBER you have the right to use your delete key. 4.) Please stay on the topic of GENEALOGY. This is not a list for gossip, current events, etc. We are here to help each other find our ancestry. 5.) There is no mediation on this list, but as the listowner I reserve the right to step in if a flame war begins. 6.) Please DO NOT send any attachments to a message you are sending to this list. If you have information on a file or anything that you want to share with the members of the list, ask for those who are interested to email you PRIVATELY so you can send them the file(s) individually. Also, please refrain from sending GEDCOM files to the list. These are usually really large files and not everyone is requiring your GEDCOM for their personal research. 7.)
