    2. Let me start the ball rolling by telling you about some of my favorite genealogical sites and links. 1. [LASTJOHN-L] Hello to everyone
    2. Hello to everyone on the LASTJOHN-L discussion list. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to send this post. I would like to touch on a few topics about this list. 1.) This list is a discussion group concerning genealogical research in the St. John The Baptist Parish, LA, area. We are all here to share information of genealogical value and contact those who are researching the same surnames. If you have some favorite genealogy sites or would like to share the surnames that you are researching, hoping to find someone else with information on your lines, then this is where you need to post. 2.) Please be aware that any message you post to the LASTJOHN-L list will go to every member of this list. If you have a message that you do not want everyone to receive, please email it to the individual's private email address. 3.) Please DO NOT FLAME people on this list. "Flaming" is openly arguing with or humilitating another person. If you disagree with something that is said, SEND THAT PERSON A PERSONAL MESSAGE. As in public, people do not like to be humiliated in front of others. Please show respect to others and keep rude comments to yourself. If a topic is not of interest to you, REMEMBER you have the right to use your delete key. 4.) Please stay on the topic of GENEALOGY. This is not a list for gossip, current events, etc. We are here to help each other find our ancestry. 5.) There is no mediation on this list, but as the listowner I reserve the right to step in if a flame war begins. 6.) Please DO NOT send any attachments to a message you are sending to this list. If you have information on a file or anything that you want to share with the members of the list, ask for those who are interested to email you PRIVATELY so you can send them the file(s) individually. Also, please refrain from sending GEDCOM files to the list. These are usually really large files and not everyone is requiring your GEDCOM for their personal research. 7.) If you want to send a message to the list, send it to: LASTJOHN-L@rootsweb.com 8.) If you want to unsubscribe from this list, send a message to: LASTJOHN-L-request@rootsweb.com In the body of the message type: unsubscribe 9.) Lastly, if you have any questions, please email me privately at: mfradella@aol.com (Michelle Fradella) Thank you all for joining this list! 2. Dwayne A Montz
    3. The new book on the origins of many German Coast families by Albert J Robichaux Jr is great. Not only does he present the European origins of many of the original settlers, but he also presents new information about their travels and eventual settlement on the German Coast. All in all, good reading as well as an excellent reference work. 1. [LASTJOHN-L] Just checking to see if this list is working
    2. Hi everyone, Since this list is so brand new and I am new at being a listowner, I hope you will bear with me. When I sent the "test" message a few days ago, I didn't get the message for some reason. The purpose of this list will be to share genealogical information with other St. John The Baptist Parish researchers. A good place to start would be to send a message to the list stating what surnames you are researching and what genealogical information you have access to. There has been a lot of problems with SPAM mail lately (unsolicited email). Hopefully the safeguards at rootsweb will keep this problem happening. If any of you are subscribers of any MAISER lists, you have seen the devastation that spamming can do. Hopefully those lists, that have mostly been moved to Rootsweb, will be up and running again shortly. The folks at Rootsweb have been working day and night to get these new lists going along with all the downfall at MAISER. If anyone would be interested in Sponsoring Rootsweb to help aleviate the financial overload (remember these lists are all run voluntarily) then please see: How to Subscribe to RootsWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html Thanks for your patience and welcome to the LASTJOHN -L mailing list.
