    2. Linda and Jerry, According to the book Guide to Louisiana Confederate Military Units, 1861 - 1865 by Arthur W. Bergeron, Jr., the Crescent Regiment was the 24th Regiment of the Infantry. Colonels were: Marshall Smith (resigned), George McPheeters (Killed) and Abel Bosworth Lt. Colonels were: George McPheeters (promoted) and George Soule Majors were: Abel Bosworth (promoted) and Myford McDougall There were companies A-L with Company L being the Alexandria Rifles. However, Co. L men were transferred to the 16th LA Regiment in July 1862. The 24th Regiment (Crescent Regiment) is discussed on pages 130-132 of the referrenced book. There is other info. about the reg. on these pages. As I scanned the info., it looks like they may have marched with General Alfred Mouton. Hope this helps. This book has helped me with my research. It was published by the Louisiana State University Press in 1989.
