Hey List Members, I just conducted a Title Search on some land Homesteaded by Don MARLER (not Dogwood Press author, writer and publisher) in 1904 and it still remains nearly in it's entirety, except for electrical highline Right of Ways, roads, etc. in ownership of a MARLER. The point I would like to discuss... Don sold his tract of land to Thomas J. MARLER, who was a single man in 1909. When T.J. sold this land in 1963, he was shown as the widower of Francis E. MILLER. But in 1950, he gave a Right of Way and he was shown as T.J. MARLER, single man, never having been married... Was this the same man ? Or another by the same name ? There was no Probate or Affidavit of Death found of record in Rapides for Francis (Frances) Ellen MILLER MARLER. The marriage index shows T.J. MARLER and Fannie E. MILLER received a marriage license in 1915, but with no complete date shown on the index makes me question whether or not the ceremony was performed and the license returned for filing. T.J. & Francis E. are buried side by side in Burrough Cemetery, so my guess would be that they were married. Then why would T.J. sign something stating that he had never been married ? Did Thomas J. MARLER and Frances Ellen MILLER have any children ? T.J. Homesteaded the Tract below Don and kept that tract longer. I eventually see about 5 other MARLER's showing ownership interest in that property by them being the ones sign to give Right of Ways, etc. over that property. Can Anyone Fill Me In ? Thanks, Houston
