I'm still searching for the families of the wives of two former mayors of Alexandria, La. The two men were either close friends or related by marraige. Robert Lark Fox was born 1818, Franklin Co. NC, died Alexandria, La between 1875 when he sold his home, and 1886 when his daughter Virginia filed to be named admin. of his estate to settle a claim he had filed against the U.S. government. Where is he buried? I have been unable to locate an obituary or anything about his death and burial. Surely there was one for a former mayor. (1874) He married Sarah A. McKinney in 1852 according to the bible record of his daughter, Lula Gay. Where did they marry? Sarah was born Ala. abt 1832. In their home in the 1860 is William McKinney, 21, born Ala. Was this Sarah's brother? I haven't been able to find her death date or place of burial, but she died before Robert. Three of their daughters were taken into the home of Val McKinney and N.L. McGinnis. They were there in the 1880 census. Their children were: Sarah Jane (died young), Charles Richard, Virginia (married J.D. Harper), Mary Thomas, Louisiana (Lula, married Louis Benton Gay), Lizzie Lark (married James H. McGinnis, son of Col. N.L. McGinnis) Col. N. L. McGinnis was mayor in 1890. He was born Monroe Co. Tn. in 1829. He married as his 3rd wife Manora Valsico McKinney. (Val) They married 1872 in the home of Sarah McKinney and Robert Fox. Val was born in Ala. also, in 1857. She died in 1891. Her obituary says she was the daughter of Jesse McKinney of Ala. Kinchen W. McKinney was named as undertutor of her children. Her children were: Jesse Lafayette, Albert Lee, Robert J., Mollie Virginia, May. In 1892 N.L. McGinnis married for the 4th time, this time to "Val's cousin, Fanny E. McKinney of Opelousas, La." Fanny was the daughter of Kinchen W. McKinney. Does anyone know anything about these McKinney ladies? I have been searching for information abour Sarah A. McKinney Fox for 20 years.
