Bardwell taught 1st grade at Oak Hill School in Elmer (about 20 miles southwest of Alexandria) from about 1942 - 1972. She was born in 1916 and died about 199?. She had a condition that caused her to lose much of her sight in her later years. She would have been buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Melder, LA. Her husband, James O. Bardwell, Jr drove a school bus to the school each day. He was born about 1915. They lived in the New Hope community, approximately 3 miles west of Elmer, LA. They had only one child?, a son named Jay? Bardwell, probably born about 1940. He attended Oak Hill High School in Elmer. Much of this is from distant memory. I can picture them all clearly in my mind. I just can't remember much else. I can't remember any others in their family but I do believe that there was an earlier generation in the area. ----- Original Message ----- From: "s garcia" <tgarcia6@stx.rr.com> To: <LARAPIDE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 24, 2004 12:08 PM Subject: [LARAPIDE] Bardwell > Hello, I am researching the Bardwell families that settled in Rapides Parrish. Especially Gray Jordan Bardwell and his kin. Would like too correspond with anyone that knows of the Bardwells in Rapides Parrish. They lived around Alexandria and Pine Woods. > > Shirley in TX > > > ==== LARAPIDE Mailing List ==== > Have you backed up your data lately? > > --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
