Surnames: Lawton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WEB.2ACI/512 Message Board Post: I am hoping to locate the records for one man: Nelson Benjamin Lawton born 27 Sept 1886 Michigan he is the younger brother of my great grandmother. He has one niece, now age 92, still living and she is aiding my search for what happened to her uncle. What we do know: Nelson Benjamin Lawton was the son of Charles Gilbert Lawton. His birth mother was Delina Jane Scheler/Sheler, commonly known as Jennie Sheler Lawton. His mother died when he was still a boy of under age 10, and his father remarried to Martha Ellen Goree, in Morgan County, Alabama. Nelson joined the US Navy for at least one tour of duty, and fought in what was most likely WW1. He married to Kate Stoker on 20 Jan 1923, but the parish is still under debate, but I think it was in Rapides Parish. In the 1930 census, they show up married, she has a daughter from her previous marriage, but he is using the first name Ben. They can be found in Alexandria, Rapides Parish, La in that census. I would like to purchase offical copies of their marriage record, and both his and her death records, and if possible, more information on their children. I know they had at least one child, Diane Lawton. I know my great uncle was living in Alexandria until at least 1956, by some Christmas cards he had sent each year to his sister in Michigan( my great grandmother), and the return address is clear and readable. I am hoping to hear from someone that is willing to take this task on, and willing to pay them at a reasonable rate for what I am asking them to send me. I can be reached at MQuiltr2@aol.com
