Hi, I was checking my newsletter from MISSING LINKS, Vol. 5, No. 34 and ran across this interesting item. Would this possibly belong to any WRIGHT decendents in the Rapides area? Please contact this person if you think it is one of your people. Jeanne * * * * * * * * * * More than 20 years ago, I purchased in Marshall, Texas, an old Singer sewing machine base that had a heavy, granite top on it. I took it with me when I moved 17 miles north to Jefferson, Texas. A few years ago, however, I wanted to use the base for something else and had my husband remove the top. It was a tombstone with a name and dates. I tried to locate the cemetery from which it came by going through Texas death records, looking in nearby Louisiana, and advertising in a genealogy column in the DALLAS (Texas) MORNING NEWS and the SHREVEPORT TIMES, all with no success. I will be happy to make arrangements to give it to the family to whom it belongs. The stone says: E. N. WRIGHT Aug. 11, 1849 - Jan. 27, 1923. [email protected]
