Betty, why shouldn't we delete them? I realize they are virus files, but please tell me why not to delete them, I don't understand. What will happen if we delete them? Also, I have received a total of 9 of these messages so far. All 9 of them came from a Ben Mertens and all 9 of them had the following on the subject line: Re:[LARAPIDE] REMOVE ME PLEASE DON'T SEND IT BACK TO ME!!!!!!!!! Also, all 9 of them have this message in the body of the email and come with an attachment: Also, a couple of those I received had the YOU_are_FAT!.TXT.pif , but some of them had different things, they were: docs.scr (13.3 kb) or Me_nude.AVI.pif (13.3 kb) or Pics.ZIP.scr (13.3 kb) . These words were not in the body of the email, but when you clicked on the paper clip to open the attachment, this is where you see the you are fat, me nude, docs.scr or pics.zip.scr I didn't open any of them as they were obviously viruses to me, but I did delete them so please let me know what happens when you do. I have been having many, many problems since then operating my email properly. I wonder who Ben Mertens is and if he is aware he has these viruses attached? I pretty much figured it was the foul mouthed individual with the stupid attitude who refers to himself as PlatinumSoul sending it and that his real name is Ben Mertens, but with no proof right now of that, I would be real hesitant to publicly make a statement such as that. Regardless, however, of who is sending them and if they know they are sending them or not, I really would like to know why you said earlier that these attachments/emails should not be deleted!!!! Brenda Hudson, I appologise for any concerns and problems that you had getting any emails from me. Even though they had my name, Ben Mertens, they were not from me but from the virus (worm) called BAD TRANS. Unbeknownst to me, someone sent me an email with an attachment with the virus (worm) "BAD TRANS". My Norton had been updated 15 days prior, but that was not recent enough. The virus was undetected. The virus would take every email, attach itself and send the email back to the sender. If the sender returned it to me, it would attach again and send again. I worked with Norton, got the newest update, and their technical staff; now the virus is gone and I am CLEAN. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience to anyone - and sorry to loose 3 days of collecting genealogy. May no one have the a similar experience.
