Mississippi Land records list MILLINDER GORDON Land office: MT SALUS 79.91acres Issue date: May 25, 1841 Various undocumented internet sources state that Milander Gordon, son of James, was married to Catherine and that their children were born in Mississippi--Scott County. There is a Milander James Gordon, II found in Scott County who apparently stayed there when his father moved on. Most assume his father died but none give a date of death. It appears more likely that he left his wife Catherine and moved to Louisiana with at least two of his sons John and Charles. The boys Isaac and Warren are probably children of Ellender and her age is wrong in the 1860 census. There is an Elleonder Simmons age 32 in the 1850 census: 1850 Census for Bienville Parish Louisiana, Western district, Page 263: John Simmons Age 61 Farmer Born in GA Elizabeth Simmons Age 59 Born in NC Martia? Simmons (Female) Age 31 Born in Miss Elleonder Simmons Age 32 Born in Miss Elizabeth Simmons Age 16 Born in Miss James Simmons Age 20 Laborer Born in Miss (Next door was the family of John Simmons and family and then Louis Simmons and family) Milander Gordon, I was not found in the 1850 Census for Scott County Mississippi; however, two of his children were found living with the family of Jesse and Catherine Smith which are probably relatives. Where CAtherine is living at this time in unknown but in 1880 she was living with a grandson. Louisiana marriages index lists MILLINDER GORDON and ELLENDER SIMONS married 10/08/1851 in BIENVille Parish LA 1860 Census, Alexandria, Rapides Parish, LA: Milander Gordon 58 M Farmer 400 GA Ellender Gordon 59 F MS (Note: Researcher believes this age is incorrect--probably given as 39) John F. Gordon 22 M Farm Laborer MS Charles Gordon 17 M LA Isaac Gordon 7 M LA Warren Gordon 5 M LA Isaiah Gordon 30 M Farm Laborer 200 MS Living next door to William V. Gordon, 26 yo, 2 houses down from another William Gordon, 28 and 3 houses down from Martha (Gordon) Hough. Also living a couple of houses away was Matthew Lynch and family including his daughter Julia, age 11. These are the bits and pieces I have found--now all I need to do is put the puzzle together!!!!
