I believe you were the one that told me that Arch's father was Stephen Patrick or maybe I had found your message on a message board at one time. I have notes from Olivia A. Bernson (McCauley Researcher) who interviewed Aunt Florence McCauley Bittick before she passed away. Some of which confirmed stories I had been told of Grandpa Arch's death although there is some conflicting information in the my research. Annie McCauley, born 10 July 1874 in ,San Augustine, TX; died 08 August 1952 in San Augustine, TX. She married Archie Lynch Abt. 1894 in San Augustine, TX. Notes for Annie McCauley: 1992: Florence Bittick writes,"Aunt Annie had 8 children. Her husband, Arch Lynch, was killed before the baby was named. Aunt Annie's sister's husband killed him. (Nov. 28, 1900) He was 27 years old. The baby was named after his daddy."..."Henson Coulter and his son shot and killed Arch Lynch." 1900 Census San Aug TX ED 75 S 8B #136 Shows her as 25 yrs old and married for 5 years. She had had 5 children 4 were living. She gave her father's birthplace as TN. Notes for Archie Lynch: 1992 Florence Bittick said that Arch Lynch owned a sawmill and that several of the neighbors had argued with him over a gate. They hid out behind the buildings and when Arch came out of the office door, they shot him dead. They later determined that Raymond Coulter's gun killed him and Raymond went to the penitentary. 1900 Census San Aug TX ED 75 S 8B #136 Shows him as 24 his birthplace was Louisiana and Father born in MS and Mother born in TX. Mary Elizabeth McCauley, born 07 May 1864 in ,San Augustine, TX; died 15 July 1935 in ,San Augustine, TX. She married Henson Coulter 22 December 1886 in ,San Augustine, TX. Notes for Mary Elizabeth McCauley: 1992: Florence Bittick writes: Aunt Mary married Henson Coulter. He and his son shot and killed Arch Lynch, Aunt Annie's husband. The Coulters had 3 girls and 3 boys. Three of them died young." Florence also said: They proved that Raymond Coulter's gun was the one that killed Arch. He went to the pen." Annie and Mary were children of Thomas McCauley and Martha Williams. The baby that Aunt Florence speaks of was my Uncle Arch Lynch b. May 01, 1910. The information I got from Arch Lynch's tombstone says that he died May 25, 1911 which leads me to believe that this information on the tombstone for either Uncle Arch or Grandpa Arch is inaccurate. Or maybe the funeral home records in Uncle Arch's case. I have found no funeral home records for Grandpa Arch. Aunt Florence was always the one to go to for any information on the family. I do however remember stories of Uncle Arch not ever seeing his father from other family members. I believe either Uncle Arch was actually born in 1911 or Grandpa Arch died in 1910. (I know of several other instances where either tombstone information, funeral home records or both have been incorrect). Archie Lynch and Annie McCauley had several children. Thier daughter, Emmer Ethel Lynch Leach (b. December 28, 1896 d. October 11, 1991) was my great grandmother. Emmer's birthdate comes from the SS death index. My Grandma (Emmer's daughter inlaw) told me that they had to go to the family bible to prove Emmer's date of birth to start her social security. I wish I knew where that family bible was/is now.
