    2. Thank you for the clue about Allen Parish, but our Rachel Julia was born in 1849 almost 50 years before that one HOWEVER it was a great clue about looking in that county for Gordon's! Thank you very much.

    3. If you have access to LA Gen Web, go to Allen Parish Archives, and under Cemeteries, go to Cryer Cemetery. It is located near Oakdale, LA. There is a Julia Gordon listed with T. J. Gordon (Thomas Jefferson). His obit states he died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound, and was taken to the Hargrove Clinic in Oakdale. I cannot identify either of these people, or fit them into my line. I also believe they are of the white race, as this cemetery is not an African-American Cemetery. Don't know if the time frame is right for your search, but if interested in more details, let me know, I can dig up the obituary. Hope this helps. Ethel.

    1. [LARAPIDE] Rachel Julia Lynch
    2. I too would be interested in to whom she was married. I have not been able to find any documentation on her. I have been told she was known as "Julia" rather than by her first name Rachel. I searched the 1870 Census for Rapides Parish, but she is not shown as the wife of any Gordon in the census. Perhaps if we knew the name of her husband, we could find something. If she was your grandmother, to whom was she married?

    3. Maybe it is a surname. This link http://www.lsu.edu/lsupress/catalog/fall2000/fall2000/klier.html is about a book of Thèodore Pavie' journey to Louisiana and Texas. I also see a reference that pavies are something edible. Could that be your meaning? That's at : http://www.inra.fr/Internet/Produits/dpenv/scienceauquotidien/ficheshtml/90C .htm. (Personally, I think it's some variety of peach.) It could also be a reference to a location. Pavia is a province in Italy. In 1525 the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V defeated the French under Francis I. I see it occasionally referred to as "Pavies." Let me know if it helps. I didn't know your original reference.
