Hi Hal, I was just going through some old postings and came across this one of yours. My first husband was Marion Kenyon Miley, passed away in 1991, and I have since remarried. I have just recently learned that his maternal great great grandparents were Alexander and Ellen Cumbee Rougeau (Rougeou). Alexander had a brother, Sivarin. Sivarin's descendants married into my maternal Dove line. I also have a Martha Lawrence b. Dec. 4, 1838 d. Mar. 16, 1887 in Kimbletown, La., who married William Sutton Miley b. 1842 in Ms. d. 1864-1865 in Ashland, Red River Par., La. Would you have any connection to the above? I will be looking forward to hearing from you. My best wishes to you and your family. Hazel At 07:37 PM 7/7/99 +0000, you wrote: >The following Rougeou folks are buried in the Mt. Can anyone look up past Police Jurors for Rapides parish? thanks, harold
I'm still searching for the families of the wives of two former mayors of Alexandria, La. The two men were either close friends or related by marraige. Robert Lark Fox was born 1818, Franklin Co. NC, died Alexandria, La between 1875 when he sold his home, and 1886 when his daughter Virginia filed to be named admin. of his estate to settle a claim he had filed against the U.S. government. Where is he buried? I have been unable to locate an obituary or anything about his death and burial. Surely there was one for a former mayor. (1874) He married Sarah A. McKinney in 1852 according to the bible record of his daughter, Lula Gay. Where did they marry? Sarah was born Ala. abt 1832. In their home in the 1860 is William McKinney, 21, born Ala. Was this Sarah's brother? I haven't been able to find her death date or place of burial, but she died before Robert. Three of their daughters were taken into the home of Val McKinney and N.L. McGinnis. They were there in the 1880 census. Their children were: Sarah Jane (died young), Charles Richard, Virginia (married J.D. Harper), Mary Thomas, Louisiana (Lula, married Louis Benton Gay), Lizzie Lark (married James H. McGinnis, son of Col. N.L. McGinnis) Col. N. L. McGinnis was mayor in 1890. He was born Monroe Co. Tn. in 1829. He married as his 3rd wife Manora Valsico McKinney. (Val) They married 1872 in the home of Sarah McKinney and Robert Fox. Val was born in Ala. also, in 1857. She died in 1891. Her obituary says she was the daughter of Jesse McKinney of Ala. Kinchen W. McKinney was named as undertutor of her children. Her children were: Jesse Lafayette, Albert Lee, Robert J., Mollie Virginia, May. In 1892 N.L. McGinnis married for the 4th time, this time to "Val's cousin, Fanny E. McKinney of Opelousas, La." Fanny was the daughter of Kinchen W. McKinney. Does anyone know anything about these McKinney ladies? I have been searching for information abour Sarah A. McKinney Fox for 20 years.
I too would like a copy of the tamale recipe if you don't mind. Gwen Moran-Hernandez Searching: POTTER, COBB, COOTEE, RUSSELLS, MITCHELL, MORAN, CLARK and BEASON/BEESON

Thank you for sending us the inscription of the Rapides families. I am seeking information of these very people. The Munson brothers who also lived on Bayou Boeuf were my line. Henry Munson married Ann Binum Pearce , one of William's daughters. She moved with Henry and his brother Micajah, who was married to Elizabeth Everett to Atascocita District, now Liberty Co. Tx. I will try to find the book online as you suggest. Again . Thank you. Quote from the preface of the book-- "This humble work is dedicated to the memory of Captain Peter Robert, Robert Tanner, and William Pearce, Sr. They were pioneers who left their homes at the dawn of the nineteenth century, and, traveling in ox wagons and flat boats, brought their families safely through the uninhabited wilderness of the great southwest to that section of the country in central Louisiana watered by Bayou Boeuf". Captain Peter Robert hailed from Beaufort District, South Carolina. Robert Tanner also came from Beaufort District, South Carolina, and was a son-in-law of the above. William Pearce, Sr. came from Screven County, Georgia, and his forbears from Virginia. He was a Rev. soldier. Two of his sons married daughters of Robert Tanner. The book is very detailed, and offers some good genealogy links. I have a copy and found some of my Gordon and Bushnell links. Ethel.

Hi Cyndi, I am a descendant of the PEARCE family you speak of, and know they are tied in by marriage to the ROBERT and TANNER families. At one time I ordered this book through Interlibrary Loan and made some copies, but I do want to buy the book someday. I was just curious as to what errors you spotted, if you can post some of them (especially if they have to do with PEARCE). I am in absolutely no hurry for this information, so please take your time. I am currently working on other lines, so I can wait. Thanks for the offer.
