    1. [LAPLANTE] invite to OurAcadianRoots & OurLouisianaRoots
    2. Paul L LeBlanc
    3. On January 7th Ancestry/Rootsweb announced that beginning March 2nd, 2020, they will discontinue their Mail Lists functionality.  Upon receiving this notice Paul L. LeBlanc immediately began searching for another website that could accommodate the mailing list format he uses on Rootsweb.  After much research, he determined Google Groups was the best option.  So he has created two new public Google groups: “Our Acadian Roots” and “Our Louisiana Roots”, which between them will consolidate 77 Acadian and Cajun, 10 uniquely Louisiana, many French surname, and 32 Louisiana Parish Lists.  The new consolidated Genealogy research/discussion groups will focus not only on Acadian and Louisiana ancestors, but also on "All Early French in North America". Come visit the groups' new websites and take a look at the new format: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ouracadianroots or https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ourlouisianaroots If you would then like join either or both of them, just click "Join group to post" located at the top left of the page. If any questions or problem joining contact Paul at [email protected] If you would like to create your own "OUR ______ ROOTS" Google Group for your family or Parish/County, contact me at [email protected] .  I may have some ideas to help you get started.  In addition, we may be able to add your new group to our new and expanding research family. For more information, Paul L LeBlanc at [email protected]

Penniless, he was buried at public expense in the Maricopa County Cemetery. Because of his name, everyone assumed that he was Native American. However, his personal effects yielded documents suggesting that his parents were Arthur LaPlante, born in Rhode Island, and Virginia Domingue, born in Maine. Consequently, his death certificate was amended to read 'Edward LaPlante'. Could this be Edgar LaPlante? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He lived in Greybull Wyoming for some time, marrying Lettie Potter in Sheridan County Wyoming on 23 Jan. 1905. Napoleon was an engineer for the Railroad and moved around in Wyoming and Nebraska. In 1930 Napoleon and Lettie were in Alliance, Box Butte County Nebraska. In 1940 they are back in Greybull Wyoming. Napoleon and Lettie had one son, Paul R. LaPlante born in 1913. Napoleon died 1 March 1941 in Greybull, Big Horn County, Wyoming and is buried there. Paul R. LaPlante was born 7 December 1913 in Wyoming, most likely, Greybull. In the 1940 Census he is 26, married to Evelyn H. and has a daughter, Jacquelyn, age 2. They also are living in Greybull. I've managed to track Paul & Evelyn to Cheyenne WY in 1948. Paul and Evelyn both died in Cheyenne and are buried in Bethel Cemetery, Cheyenne Wyoming. Napoleon LaPlante is my great uncle and I'm hoping to reconnect to any living relatives. If you are a decendant of Napoleon and Paul LaPlante please contact me. My grandmother was Callie Exina LaPlante of Nebraska. Author: brianjudy45 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.laplante/176.178/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I just found your message. I am the g-g grandson of Ferdinand Robitaille and Mary Theoliste LaPlante. I have been researching our ancestory for some time but just started researching the LaPlante family. The obstacles in finding information on Mary is because at some time the Robitaille name was changed to Roberts. Mary died June 7, 1876 and is buried in the Bailey Family Cemetery located in the Garden Township, Delta County Michigan beside her daughter Mary Louise Roberts age 4. Ferdinand and Mary had 8 children before she died. All listed under the name Roberts. Ferdinand and Mary took the Schooner "Fish Hawk" from Sheboygan Wisconsin, sometime after they were married, to the Garden Peninsula. Ferdinand is buried in the Kates Bay Cemetery, under the name Ferdinand Robitaille, beside his second wife Adeleid Robitaille, nee LaButte nee Truckey "Trottier. They had no children. They were also married under the name Roberts. A family member, now deceased, indicated, in a letter, that Ferdinand and Mary were married in 1856 in Wisconsin. I have not been able to find that marriage record. I have traced the Robitaille blood line back to 1620 in France and I am presently putting it to paper.
