I have debated joining genealogybank for a few months now. Do you think it worth it? It is hard to tell what kind of records they have. I belong to ancestry.com already. Does genealogy bank contain EXTRA records that I might not find on Ancestry? Can someone who belongs advise me if they think the subscription is worthwhile? However, she is having trouble finding an obituary for either of them. I checked the Louisiana Biography and Obituary Index on Nutrias.org, and did not find them there. I checked www.legacy.com, and did not find them there. It seems from Wikipedia.org that they were quite famous people. Were they well known by you people? Do you have any ideas about finding an obituary? DEFINITELY worthwhile for the price. GenBank has articles that you will never find on Ancestry! I agree that it is definitely worth the money. This site is mainly newspapers. I have found answers to many stories that I have always heard and wondered what the facts really were. Learned them on this site. Also found stories that I had not heard. Ancestry builds the bones of our ancestors and genealogybank adds the flesh. Shelia, I'm echoing what the others have said, and I'll provide you with a personal instance that convinced me to subscribe to GenealogyBank. I signed up for the $10 trial membership, then entered the name Collins, the additional word Millville, and searched the NJ papers. I found a 1904 article, "Her First Birthday - Although Little Ethel Collins Is Eight Years Old." This is an article about my grandmother who was born on Leap Year 1896. That right there made me sign up for a full subscription. Since then I've found several little articles about my 2nd great-grandfather and his farm, their family visiting others out of town, etc. Some of those little articles provided family links I suspected but hadn't yet confirmed. I highly recommend at least a trial subscription.
