In one of my collateral branches, I have two first cousins marrying. I was surprised to find that this is possible in the Catholic Church. "But as for two first cousins... the Church's position is that they are forbidden to marry only by ecclesiastical law, not by divine law. For this reason it is canonically possible to receive a dispensation that permits two first-cousins to marry validly in the Catholic Church. (This assumes, of course, that it is legal under civil law in the area where the marriage is to take place---and in the U.S., some states permit it, while others don't.)"
