    3. Jan and List,   To help find the 1940 EDs in New Orleans, I’ve downloaded the 16 maps Jan referred to and placed them in a simple webpage.   Since the 1940 censuses are not indexed yet, someone can be found by their address. When you know the address, you can find the location using Google Maps or a similar program. A comparison can be made between the current map and the 1940 maps. The ED number can then be located. (All of the New Orleans EDs begin with “36-“, such as “36-251.”)   Note that one of the maps includes a listing of institutions that are included in their own EDs. See: http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~neworleans/1940_nola_eds/d3_15_of_16_m-a3378-00024-00800.jpg   I hope this is useful. Using these maps, I have so far found both sets of my grandparents.   The webpage with all of the maps is here: http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~neworleans/1940_nola_eds/   Norm ________________________________ From: Jan Delgehausen <msdelge@cox.net> I bypassed Ancestry.com and went to Archives.gov where you can search the entire 1940 Census. I have already found my husband’s family in Minnesota.  It will take me a little longer to figure out Enumeration Districts for New Orleans, but I will, as time permits. Janet Baton Rouge
