I am certain you will find many books published on the Orphan Trains of N.Y.C. in the 1800's. Matter of fact, a year or so ago I read about the Orphan Trains that dropped children off in Opelousas, Louisiana. Opelousas has a very active genealogy society who may possibly help you.
