    2. Bev, I have one Kern in my line. His name was Victor Kern and married Wilhelmina Heikamp. This marriage was circa 1860 in New Orleans. They had no known children of their own, but raised Wilhelmina's niece and nephew who were orphaned in 1867 when their parents died of Yellow Fever in New Orleans. They moved to Columbus, MS and Wilhelmina and the niece and nephew came back to New Orleans in the 1880's. I know nothing about Victor's parents or siblings or where he was from other than Prussia. Victor Kern age 22 and a Matilda Kern age 23 living with him (possibly a sister) as this is just prior to his marriage to Wilhelmina is in the N.O. 1860 census. Any connections to your Kern?
