She told me that if I could get the VE number, she has access to those and can make copies, but they have to have that number. How do you go about finding out which Notary may have done the work you are seeking? This seems like a circular search... Beth is in charge of the Vital Records and is referring to the New Orleans Justice of the Peace Marriage Records. State Archives has copies of those microfilms. They are labeled with the same V numbers NOPL assigned to them because they correspond to their card index. When you look up a marriage in NOPL's card index, it will give you only the V number and the date. The JOP Marriage Records are not the same as the notarial records you were asking about.
