Hey Cheramie Do you have the exact date of his death in 1830? Do you have his obit? I'll do an obit lookup next chance I get at the library. Hey, thanks Rita. A kind of goofy thing happened, so I'm very glad for your offer. Capt. Robert McGuinn Davis died in New Orleans 20 February 1830, according to the copy of a card I received from the HNOC. Looks like a headstone transcription. The HNOC made a note on that copy that says 'no obituary found' in their sources, I guess. I would LOVE to have one IF one exists. Now, his son Augustus Davis, died 16 January 1837, aged 38 years. Again, this is one of those copies of a card from the HNOC. He's buried in the same places as his father, Girod Cemetery. However, a nice person emailed and said she's found an obit for Augustus Davis, in the New Orleans Bee...on the date after he died. She sent me a link to see the New Orleans Bee online. She also sent the obit as an attachment, but the print is so screwy I can't read it well. I would love to have a 'readable' copy of that one, too. Have you ever used the NO Bee, online? Well, you get to a list of dates, January 1, and then each day. She said, that she found that obit on the day after he died. He died on the 16th of January, so...I looked at the 17th...when I click that one, the image I get clearly says January 16...so, I went to the next one which, in the list, is the 18th. With that one, I get the 18th. Where is the 17th???? And how did she find it????? Is this clear? :>) So, I'd love to have a copy of Augustus Davis' obit, that I can read. Too much? I'm very happy to repay you for any expense involved. Many, many thanks!!! Many, many thanks!!!! Cheramie
