Hello List, I have recently been putting some of my data on Ancestry.com. In doing so, I realized that Ancestry.com has a serious error in its place name database. When a person starts to enter New Orleans, the “auto-complete” function completes it as "New Orleans, Jefferson, Louisiana, USA." Because of this, many people have incorrectly entered New Orleans, Jefferson, Louisiana, USA as a place name in their Ancestry Public Member Trees. When I discovered this, I remembered a query to the List about this issue over two years ago. I have notified Ancestry.com of the error, but to date it has not been corrected. In the meantime, people who enter data on Ancestry should be cautious about this auto-complete error, and should be cautious with the auto-complete function entirely, as I have seen many other mistakes made because of it. Everyone should also be aware that Ancestry family trees will frequently contain the erroneous place name of New Orleans, Jefferson, Louisiana, USA.
