Yeah, you can get a copy of the original application for SS, that's how I found that my grandfather was born in NOLA However, back then the cost was $12.00, I think it is up to $27.00 now. http://genealogy.about.com/od/online_records/a/ss5_request.htm this will give you all that you need.
