Two of the people I have researched met their demise with New Orleans street cars. Lila Martin Benjamin died 12 Oct 1911 from injuries caused by being hit by a street car on St. Charles Ave. and Calliope St. On her way to the theatre, she had crossed the double street car tracks on St. Charles Avenue at the corner of Calliope, in sight of her home, intending to board the street car which her granddaughter was trying to stop. William A. Labatt, who died 24 Apr 1912, was riding a streed car home to his room on Felicity Street near Prytania after eating dinner at his brother-in-law's home at 1633 Valmont. He got up and walked to the back platform of the street car. The car had not come to a complete stop when he lurched forward, falling to the ground where he struck his head, causing a fractured skull.
OK, I guess it was not strange.
